Well I have finished the neck on the left front of Breeze

leftfront20100905_1.jpg

This will need to rest now whilst I get cracking on the right front and the 2 sleeves. I have worked out where my buttonholes need to be so let's hope I did my maths right!

I also have 2 finished socks sadly they don't make a pair

20100905_4.JPG

These are knitted using Opal Kaleidoskop shade 2994. They are so cheery with all the bright colours.

Again knitted in Opal Kaleidoskop shade 2993 - very autumnal.

I just need to knit their "mates" now!

Not so sunny Saturday

However it hasn't stopped me doing a few rows on Breeze. I am well on the way with the collar of the left front.

leftfront20100904_38.jpg

It is a garter stitch collar.

I have done the garter stitch botton of the right front and am ready to move on to 4mm needles and begin the pattern. First I need to calculate where my buttonholes need to be!

rightfront20100904_35.jpg

I knitted the bulk of the left front in 3 days but am hesitant about making the same speedy progress on the right front! Let's wait and see.

Enjoy your week-end.

Sunny Friday

A few hours in the garden with the radio playing and my knitting and I am well away. The left front of Breeze has made good progress.

I remembered to photo the back

back20100903_3.jpg

And whilst I was in the mood I took the opportunity to photo the current sock WIPS

20100903_7.jpg

20100903_6.JPG

These are knitted using some relatively new sock yarn from Opal and I just love the colours. The pinky ones are autumnal and the others bright and cheery!

I had a few minutes of extravaganza recently. Last year I wanted to knit some Christmas socks but left it too late to get some yarn. Not this year, I was shopping in August!

They came from Universal Yarns in America and will be rather expensive socks but Christmas only comes once a year!

Breeze

Hi

I am back up and knitting with Breeze. I had another blip last night but sat at breakfast this morning and wrote the pattern out to see where I was going wrong. It was my Maths - 2 x 16 = 34 NOT!

                                                            Left front

Anyway I am now on a roll with my mojo back - for Breeze that is. All other WIP's are resting until this is finished - I have a set of drawers waiting for them! The only exception being Mystery Blanket squares and socks.

 Happy Knitting.

Veer

Hi

I have nearly finished the front of Veer, just one side of the neck to do and then it is on with the sleeves. I haven't knitted very much on this over the last week as with it being black I need good light!

20100901_1.jpg

I spent a couple of hours yesterday afternoon knitting the left front of Breeze only to have to rip shortly after as I missed a decrease - silly me. Anywhen upshot is not much progress to report on that WIP.

pair of socks

24082010.jpg

This is some more of the Kaffe Fassett sock yarn. My kind of colours. Mauves and blues and I am just thinking maybe this photo doesn't do them justice. Let's see what the weather brings us at the week-end and maybe I can get an outside shot.

I am a few rows away from the armhole on the front of Veer so progressing well.

No sign of Kim's new book on her website which is a bit of a shame. Here's hoping for tomorrow.

I have received a message from the Editor of The Knitter. Mencap are currently running an exciting competition at the moment and I have been asked if I would blog about it. So here we are Make and Bake competition!

Happy baking!

On the go

Sunday's always seem to be a busy day - out and about. So I always make sure I have a sock in my bag I can pick up knit a few rounds and then put down.

Here is my current sock - progressing nicely. 10 rows to go then the toe shaping.

22082010.jpgI better get a wiggle on with Veer as I am expecting the postie to bring me a new book in the next few days and I have a timetable to keep to.

Happy knitting

Veer

At the moment I am working on Veer. This is a pattern from Kim Hargreaves when she worked for Rowan. It was in magazine 32 I think. I am knitting it in black so the good old kidsilk haze will be a nightmare to sew up. I decided to knit a small size so have everything crossed that the fit will be ok.

front21082010.jpg

When I get going this is quite a fast knit. It is stocking stitch and I am using my addi's as I find these work best with the kidsilk haze.

Pondering over the patterns in Kim's new book I think this is my favourite at the moment although I have still to see a hard copy of the book so could well change my mind!

RuthD_PATT014446.jpg                                                                              Ruth

It is knitted in Rowan Classic Baby Alpaca and there is some on eBay at the moment at a really good price! There would of course be the dilema of choosing a shade.

I guess I should get back to Veer.

A new book from Kim Hargreaves - Touching Elegance

  cover.jpg

As autumn leaves fall.....  Cross the threshold into a new season with an eclectic blend of chic sophistication and bohemian charm.

Warm tones of mulberry, chestnut and bitter chocolate sit beside a monochrome pallet of inky black and charcoal grey, drawing attention to the luscious yarns and sumptuous silhouettes.

There are some great designs in this book and I cannot wait to urchase mine when Kim put's it on her website. What is even better is that I have yarn in stash for those I am itching to knit.

I guess I have a whole week-end to do lots of mattress stitch!

Amy has reached the blocking board

I have two sleeves to block and then I can begin the mattress sleeve on the raglans so as to do the neck. I really like this so far and cannot wait to wear it.

Life

At the moment I have a few different things going on in my life pulling me in a few different directions. That said I am keeping sane as life will settle down into some semblance of normality before the year end. Just got to hang on in there over the summer. To knit or not to knit.......

So why when one sits down with a sock to knit and a coffee does a sock needle decide to split???

20100809_2.jpgOh well I managed to reply to a few emails instead.

Yes I do drink a fair amount of coffee although I do believe I have cut down since taking a couple of weeks break from work. This photo was taken last Saturday.

                                            Coffee and knitting time

It is the last of the pieces for  the Amy Butler Roll Neck sweater knitted in the belle organic aran yarn which I have to say is a pleasure to knit with. I would have finished this project sooner but I ripped back a chunk as I wasn't happy with a couple of the stitches. Good progress is being made and I think this is heading for the blocking board very soon.
