Lots of ME time!

Lockwood is finished but is taking longer to sew up than I had thought it would so no pictures today I am afraid. I hope to finish it tomorrow.

It is looking like a lovely warm baggy jumper even though I knitted the smallest size.

I got to wear Audrey today too. The weather was spot on, I was neither too hot nor too cold. David took me to a lovely little country pub The Furze Bush for Sunday lunch. How remiss of me I forgot to take my knitting!

Another week at home awaits so hopefully lots more knitting time. This week will be a Colinette week.

I am going to knit this

AUDREY

I finished Audrey today.

AUDREY NECK

The neck took a little bit of doing to get it correct but I am very happy with the final result. I was also worried the sleeves would be too long but they are just the right length so I need not have worried.

The weather has been just right for wearing Audrey today - I should have finished her over breakfast this morning! Sunshine is forecast for tomorrow but there may still be a nip in the air so Audrey may get her debut tomorrow.

Now a decision - should I pick up the stitches for the button band of Jane or finish the back of Lockwod?

I managed to take some photos of Lockwood so far

The back and front are identical up to the armholes so I decided to do 2 pieces and then decide which was to be the front and which the back.

I love the colour scheme and cannot believe how quickly it has knitted up.

Hopefully I shall get to take a picture of the finished outside whcih should give a better photo.

Lack of photo's

I haven't been able to take any photo's as yet but hope to over the next couple of days.

I have done lots of knitting though. Lockwood now has 2 sleeves and a back up to the armholes. I hope to finish the back tomorrow and make good progress on the front.

Perhaps I should sign up to the Man-Along over at Knit-O-Rama

Thanks Heather for leading me to this. I wonder if they accept life members!

Well now my knee operation is behind me I can try and get back to some normality. Work was a little busy last week as I tried my bestest to get everything up straight for my time away resting and recuperating.

My discharge notes from the hospital said rest with the leg supported in elevation and the doctor gave me a certificate to refrain from work for 3 weeks.

So what does one do yes she knits.

I came home from hospital yesterday lunchtime and last night I wanted to cast on something new so I decided to use some Noro Silk Garden I purchased on my visit to Burford Needlecarft.

I cast on for a simple stocking stitch v-neck jumper.

This design is from Jane Ellison's book Simply Noro Designs and I am using shade 204 which is a combination of bronze's and blues.

I will try to post a photo tomorrow as the back is already up to the armholes and I am in to the third ball. I also have pictures of Audrey and Jane to take.

Happy Knitting.

Neck edging for Audrey

I have started the neck edging for Audrey and it is going well. I am on the 5th pattern repeat and reading through the comments on Audrey knitalong I have another 12 or so to do.

It is too warm to wear Audrey at the moment but unless we have an Indian summer I shall hope to be wearing it soon.

Back from Sailing

and I had a great time.

We had plenty of this

but there was very little wind.

We picked the boat up from Port Solent on Wednesday evening and then motored it down to Gun Wharf where we moored up for the night at around 9pm. There were 21 boats in our party.

We went off the boat to have dinner aboard HMS Warrior and I have to say what an experience that was. If you ever get the chance to visit do. The dinner was excellent and we had a motivational speaker afterwards to fire us all up for the races the following day.

I got back to the hotel around 1am after leaving all the men to sleep on the boat.

I had to do some knitting but I am afraid at that time of night it was not much

Then after a few hours sleep I joined the others back at the boat for breakfast

Our boat

Thursday we spent on the calm waters and came 6th overall after 3 races - not bad for someone who hasn't sailed before. I guess I should confess to doing very very little to sail the boat - however I did dish out the fun-size mars bars to keep everyone going. If only I had been brave enough to knit on the boat I would have had more of a sock to show!

The last coupe of days I have been working on Jane and the lucky lady now has a back, 2 fronts and 2 sleeves. Jane joins Audrey in the sewing up pile.

Going Sailing

Being a Bank Manager involves a little corporate hospitality every now and again. Us Lady Managers are in the minority and much of the hospitality involves Golf, Rugby, Cricket, Racing... yes sport.

Well earlier in the year a Sailing Regatta was announced which sounded rather fun so I said I would join in. The event has come round quickly and takes place Wednesday evening / Thursday.

The guys are sleeping on the boat but I have taken the liberty of booking in to the nearest Holiday Inn - well there is 7 of them.

So I shall need some knitting to take with me in case I cannot sleep. I don't think they will let me knit on the boat but I just hope they don't put me in charge of the ropes - I have no sailing experience and a dodgy knee!

I have been told to take a small soft bag for my belongings as there is not much room on the boat and all my belongings will be with me on Thursday on the boat so my knitting project will need to be small.

Small projects = socks.

On one of my recent trips to York I picked up a copy of Cast On in the local Borders. There is a pattern for a lovely pair of socks in there - step out in style socks which are knitted in Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock.

Polly very kindly sent me some of this yarn recently as a gift in shade Wisteria which is a lovely mix of mauves, pinks and blues.

I have wound the 2 hanks in to balls with the aid of my swift and packed them with a copy of the pattern and some sock needles.

I guess I should think about what else I need to pack.

Please pray for fine weather - we will be sailing at Port Solent near Portsmouth.

Here's hoping for a good days sailing with lots of this

and a force 3-4 wind!

Enjoy your knitting time.
