Going Sailing

Being a Bank Manager involves a little corporate hospitality every now and again. Us Lady Managers are in the minority and much of the hospitality involves Golf, Rugby, Cricket, Racing... yes sport.

Well earlier in the year a Sailing Regatta was announced which sounded rather fun so I said I would join in. The event has come round quickly and takes place Wednesday evening / Thursday.

The guys are sleeping on the boat but I have taken the liberty of booking in to the nearest Holiday Inn - well there is 7 of them.

So I shall need some knitting to take with me in case I cannot sleep. I don't think they will let me knit on the boat but I just hope they don't put me in charge of the ropes - I have no sailing experience and a dodgy knee!

I have been told to take a small soft bag for my belongings as there is not much room on the boat and all my belongings will be with me on Thursday on the boat so my knitting project will need to be small.

Small projects = socks.

On one of my recent trips to York I picked up a copy of Cast On in the local Borders. There is a pattern for a lovely pair of socks in there - step out in style socks which are knitted in Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock.

Polly very kindly sent me some of this yarn recently as a gift in shade Wisteria which is a lovely mix of mauves, pinks and blues.

I have wound the 2 hanks in to balls with the aid of my swift and packed them with a copy of the pattern and some sock needles.

I guess I should think about what else I need to pack.

Please pray for fine weather - we will be sailing at Port Solent near Portsmouth.
