Love and Marriage

David and I have been married for 10 years back in April and David has reminded me several times that he is still waiting for a jumper knitted by his wife. I have knitted him socks and a scarf but it is a jumper he really really would like.

Back in February (yes it was that long ago) I started a jumper in Jaeger 4 ply - mad or what and have been knitting it on and off since. I have knitted this jumper in various places over the summer including the top of York Minster after climbing 403 steps, a steam train between York and Scarborough and also on the walls of Scarborough castle.

I have the sewing up to do and then the neck but the sad thing is I am not sure it will be big enough, therefore so as to not disappoint I have been knitting

York

This design is taken from Jane Ellison's new book Noro Knits.I have used Noro Kureyon shade 55 and I had 20 balls of this shade of Kureyon so in theory there should be enough to make a his and hers for us both but I am not banking on that until David's is finished. I am knitting the extra large size and have made it longer than the pattern says to. The pattern is basically 2 x 2 rib and is knitted on 5mm needles and it seems to be knitting up really quickly. In just over a week and a half I have done this much

but then I guess for a period of this I was not working, I was still resting whilst recovering from my operation. That changed this week and I returned to work sort of part-time. I set out on Monday to do 10 - 4 - I have managed the 10 part of the day but have not been leaving at 4. My yarn piles have not been disappearing so quickly as the previous 4 weeks but I am still making good progress.

The nights are drawing in and the temperatures cooling so I shall be turning to my yarn to keep me warm!

Talking of keeping warm I received a present earlier in the week from Rowanette Jill Richards. I was unable to make it to Ally Pally this year so Jill kindly sent me a little something from the show.

Jill also sent a pattern to make a Frill Bill Scarf using the Koigu. I am looking forward to knitting with the Koigu as the reports I have heard are that it is just gorgeous to knit with.

Happy Knitting.

Hi Anna

I'm so impressed with your progress on "York". I had been eyeing this up but for the opposite reason, I knitted my husband a really warm Magpie Aran sweater last year and it's so warm, I want my own version. Love the colour, I'm thinking of 115.

Cheers,Sam

Ohh! I love York. That is one of my must have knits!!! Love that colorway.
