Ruffle

is finished and the inaugural show has taken place.

The back drop is Victoria Park, no band to sit and listen to today though. I think use of the band stand may be over for this year - roll on next summer!

I have started sewing up Whitney but I am a little worried it is going to be snug - I did the large size as well. I guess I shall have to wait until the bands are on for sure. I still have to find the buttons but think it may be a few days before I shall be needing those.

The frills for Ruffle are finished. I stayed up really late last night to finish the 21st row on the second front frill. This evening I have cast-off so all remains is to sew up the sides and put the sleeves in.

This I will start tomorrow. My deadline is Friday evening. Then I can play with Whitney.

Today

I went along to The Royal County of Berkshire Show and the weather stayed fine. This trip out I managed to avoid the pot holes unlike my trip to Avington Park earlier in the week! Pot holes and weak knees don't go together. The only good thing is more time sat resting so more time sat knitting.

The nearest thing to knitting at the show today was

The show is definitely of the agriculture theme with lots and lots of animals to see.

There was a food fare tent so I managed to have a slow wander around.

My purchases consisted of refreshments only but rest assured I didn't try this out!

We do have progress on Ruffle. Yesterday I got home from the office record early and so decided to pick up the stitches for Ruffles second front frill. I am 5 rows down so only another 16 to go.

After I posted the other day - I realised what my next project is to be.

Progress

The right front frill of ruffle is finished. I just finished casting off this evening. I began the cast-off last night but at 12.45am I couldn't face another stitch so put Ruffle to bed!

I think I will leave the picking up of the stitches for the left front frill until Sunday afternoon - it takes quite a while to pick up 282 stitches.

I am sure Ruffle will be worth it once I get to wear her.

I am off to look through my books for my next project - plenty to choose from!

A Little Fun

I am not sure my thoughts of yesterday were quite right in thinking that I was half done on the frills for Ruffle. The back frill is worked on 417 stitches whilst the front frills are worked on 702 stitches and there is 2 of them.

I think I still have a little ways to go BUT every stitch counts and I am forever picking ruffle up and doing a little more.....

David has just been out in the garden watering the plants and topping up the bird feed ready for their breakfast so I thought I would take ruffle out.

What can we do with the banana plant when the cold weather sets in?

Doing well

The frill on the back of Ruffle is finished and whilst watching Lleyton Hewitt in the US Open I picked up 282 stitches needed for the right front frill. I continued to watch the tennis for a "long" time and managed to do 7 rows of this frill so I think I am now over half way there on the frills if you include the back frill, only another 15 rows for the right front and the left front to go.

I did get side-tracked at the end of last week though.

After chatting with a friend I remembered I have 4 balls of the beautiful Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk.

I just had to cast on a scarf. I am doing it in mistake rib. The scarf has grown since I took this photo as I have been doing the odd row or two here and there since casting on. In fact I have nearly used up 2 balls. The yarn is absolutely gorgeous and I may just have to make a jumper in it.

This photo doesn't do the colour justice. I am knitting in the claret.
