Not much knitting today!

A busy day - I toasted the Queens 80th Birthday today at Newbury Races.

I work for a Bank why didn't I know about this?

A COMMEMORATIVE £5 coin to mark the Queen's 80th birthday

I always enjoy an afternoon at the races. Great for "people watching" if you are not too interested in the horseracing. I tend to do both - but just a few pounds on the horseracing and not every race. It depends whether the jockey has pink in their colours!!

I shall be knitting more with this yarn!

Yep coffee shop this morning - my nephew Bradley was staying at my mums! Bradley is also a fan of Caffe Nero. He enjoyed a glass of milk whilst I enjoyed my Grande Americano.

Not only Easter Sunday but our Wedding Anniversary too! 12 years ago today - there are some people who find it hard to believe that it really was that long ago. I think some of the years have gone quicker than others - maybe something to do with getting older. (Not that we are mentioning getter older at the moment!)

David has a love for Cadburys chocolate so he got a few more Easter Eggs than usual.

Chocolate!

This afternoon we took a walk around Victoria Park - David enjoyed a tub of losely ice-cream whilst I enjoyed a solero orange fresh.

My present from David was the Handbag - well that is its official purpose however could very soon be a knitting bag - it is fab. Has pocket flaps on each side which are just the size for a sock pattern and guess what inside you can fit a lovely little bag with ones sock project in. Zipped pocket inside for your scissors and row counter. Slot for ones pen to make notes, pouch for your mobile phone and an elasticated pocket for ones iPod.

HAPPY EASTER

I felt the need for a small portable project to carry around with me over the Easter break - not that I am travelling much further than "Berkshire". I am sure I will frequent a coffee shop or two over the week-end!

In fact I cast these on in Caffe Nero this morning whilst enjoying my Grande Americano.

More Socks

I am off to finish my silk scarf now - I need to show this on Tuesday. Then it is back to the Entrelac Shawl - I have a date with Xander Tuesday evening and he will be wanting a progress report.

to bed that is!

This is one ball of the Debbie Bliss silk - a second ball to knit up before the scarf is ready to wear. Really looking forward to it. At first glance seemed a little narrow but I believe they are "in" for this spring and this silk one will be just the biz to wear! This makes a really good sample to show off the Pure Silk yarn.

The shade I am knitting the scarf in is shade 06 which is a minty green.

Ok a week-end off but now it is back to the Entrelac blanket - this will also be lovely to wear but not by me. Xander I hope you enjoy!!

I stopped by today and grabbed 2 balls of Debbie Bliss pure silk dk.

This yarn is absolutely divine. It comes in skeins so one has to wind it in to balls - the silk and the wool winder didn't really get on too good so getting the skeins in to balls was quite challenging.

Once there though what can I say. I am knitting this

It is so gorgeous I just have to get back to it. I can see tonight being a very late night.

Well Hello

Firstly no this is not an April Fool I really am here!

It has been a dicey few months but hey spring is here - time to get out and about again.

What better place to start than a visit to Sandbanks, Poole.

A lovely lunch at Cafe Shore (Poole).

My friend Barbara lives about 5 minutes away from here so she came down and we had a lovely stroll along the beach for a couple of hours before reclining with a cappuccino.

Of course my knitting went with me but didn't make it out of the bag - too much chatting.

So what am I knitting?

One of Debbie Bliss's designs from her baby cashmerino book.

Entrelac Shawl

This is for Xanders christening in June. I am really enjoying knitting the shawl - the pattern is quite straight forward once you get going. I was a little nervous to start with. I would say I am about a third done so a little ways to go yet but plenty of time!

Happy Knitting
