A SUNNY SUNDAY

A couple of week-ends ago David and I took a drip down to Mudeford to visit Liz Jenks and her family.

They had a fab caravan here minutes from the beach which was just the other side of the promenade.

We had lots of

The yarn this patterns calls for is Rowan All Seasons Cotton and it was a real quick knit.

Liz helped me with my three needle bind off of the shoulders and then I ran out of yarn so no neck!

Finished pieces awaiting seaming and a neck

However Mcadirect came to my rescue. The shade I was using is Safari, long since discontinued, however they still had some - ordered Tuesday arrived on Wednesday. Also in the shopping cart went this pattern

Well I have liked this pattern since seeing it in some magazines so was destined to buy it at some point.

“A very long time ago” I started a bag by Brandon Mabley “Mexican Stripe” from Rowan 35. It is knitted in a mix of cotton glace and 4 ply cotton used double throughout 96 rows and 148 stitches each. A fair amount of knitting but I think the time it has taken is perhaps a little too long.

Anyway it is finished however I decided I didn't "need" another bag and turned it in to a cushion.

I can see another cushion on the "to-do" list.

First though I have a deadline for BOLD STRIPE - Kaffe Fassett jumper - 28th October.

Knitted in kid classic and rowanspun 4ply.

Here is my basket of yarns ...

... and the jumper

This has taken pride of place in my work chest and was so pleased to be seeing daylight - however with the onset of "flaming" June kid classic was not the yarn to knit with in the heat!

I figure the more I remind myself of this one the likelier I will be to get on with it!

However............

Instead I decided to knit the Lotus Blossom Tank designed by Sharon Shoji and worked in exotic bamboo, this lacy top features clever bodice construction. The design is in the latest copy of Interweave knits.

I used some of this Bamboo in lilac and it is knitting up fairly quickly.

Picture to follow - I will take an outside photo tomorrow.

SOCKS!

Last month I was lucky enough to visit Rowans Mill - yes another workshop.

This time it was

Funky Knits - Fun and Funky Socks tutored by Carol Meldrum

The knitting workshop was inspired by Carol's new book 'Funky Knits'. The workshop was designed for knitters who can knit and purl with confidence and wanted to try a new skill or simply brush up on a technique. We looked at knitting in the round with 4 needles and had fun being creative with colour and pattern, working them into socks.

When the letter arrived from Rowan confirming the workshop they mentioned fairisle - I was certain about one thing there wasn't going to be any fairisle in my socks!

The ladies were of course there with me!

Jackie's sock!

I am sorry Jackie's sock didn't get England to the final but I am sure her "boys" had fun wearing them!

After a nerve racking time listening to England lose to Portugal on penalties in the World Cup I got to see James Blunt at Blenheim Palace.

It was a fab night - I love his music.

I did buy a You're Beautiful Skinny - well when PINK is your favourite colour what do you do?

Of course my knitting went with me but sadly no photos to prove it. I was especially grateful for having my knitting with me when we had to sit in the car for an hour and a half trying to get out of the car=park.
