repeats itself. Yet again I had to rip the heel three times. This happened to me a few months back. Whether I become complacent or my mind just wanders and isn't on the job I don't know.

Then this happens.

Just when I needed 5 needles to do the heel. Still I got there and am on to the foot.

christmasconga230209_1.jpgSocks are for knitting "on the road". Whilst at home I am working on Hermia by Sarah Hatton from Rowan Studio 4.

Hermia is knitted in All Season's Cotton and I am using True Blue - a discountinued shade I believe. I have a back, a front and part of sleeve number 1.

Christmas Conga

I liked this yarn when it arrived and even more so once I had wound it from the hank to a ball! Now it is knitted up I can see why it was called Christmas Conga - all the red and green. Almost made me want to save it to knit up next Christmas.

I am at the heel already in just one days knitting. I don't want to get complacent but 2 pairs of socks in 5 weeks is still possible.

WIP's

So at last I have caught up with all my sock WIPS. Yes that is correct no socks on the needles. Is this a sign of me getting organised or a sign I have indeed been resting! I can now cast on with my December sock club yarn.

February's has also arrived so I have just 5 weeks to knit 2 pairs of socks. I think this is possible - let's see.

Summer places for the Skein Queen Sock Club open in May. I think this will be on my birthday list.

Resting

is what I have been doing.

Today I treated myself with a visit here. They use Aveda products which I simply adore. I had my hair cut and a few highlights put in. Whilst the colour was taking I had a hand massage using their hand relief - simply devine.

Whilst there I finished the second of the Irish Jig socks.

Just the toe left to graft which I shall do tomorrow.

This evening I met up with Mike, a work colleague and we had supper at Strada. Lots going on in the world of banking at the moment so lots to talk about!

I have nearly finished square 17 and have the beads for square 18 threaded on to the yarn ready to start. Whether this will be tonight I am not sure, rather depends how long the eyes can stay open!

I took a break at lunchtime today and treated myself to a coffee. Whilst I enjoyed watching the snow fall I did a few rows of my current sock wip, well half the heel. I am trying to keep my sock knitting to "out of the house" knitting so as to concentrate on larger projects whilst "in the house". So far this theory is working, the test will be when I have finished my Mystery Blanket Squares.

Keep warm and enjoy your knitting.

Cold today

No very cold today. We have had lots of snow - some say the most for 2 decades. Very pretty but very inconvenient. I guess it gave the media something else to focus on as "headline news".

I did indeed start square 18 last night and did half, the remaining half should be done tonight. Then it will be square 19.

Not quite sure how, other than lots of knitting I guess, but I am almost at the heel on the second Irish Jig sock.

irishjig020209.jpgThis could of course mean Christmas Conga will be on the needles by the week-end.

Stay warm with your knitting.

Hello

Well that was January. Rather a testing month but that seems to be the way of the world at the moment.

A little but not a lot of knitting.

5 socks

I suspect but haven't checked that these were all cast on during 2008. The single sock is from the Get Knitted Sock Club and the yarn was sent to me in October - Irish Jig. So yes I am waaaaaaaaaaaay behind as I still have December's "Christmas Conga" to knit up and another lot of yarn will no doubt drop through the letter box this week. The way I see it is I finish October's socks (hopefully this week), I then knit Christmas Conga as my February socks and then February's yarn as my March socks. I need to see if "someone" will wind the Christmas Conga yarn for me - me and the swift sometimes come to blows and stress is not allowed at the moment on health grounds!

As well as 5 socks I have 5 squares to show for January from the 2009 Mystery Blanket so I am up to date with that. My yarn arrived from Debbie yesterday to do February's squares. I had the details emailed across to me Thursday night and when I looked at them my first reaction was "challenging" and then I remembered how much trouble I had with square 37! The plan is to start with square 18 this evening. It would be good to get them knitted up this week but I am not going to fret if I don't just as long as they get done in February.

Happy Knitting.
